What is this Website?
The idea for this particular version of my website evolved over a number of years. As you can see, the main topic is biblical prophecy and the endtimes, that is, the growing expectation for the return of the Lord Jesus. That was a change to my former work in the "discernment" ministry - or really, an extension of that ministry in exploring how we can face up to the challenge of false teaching and make ready for the future.
Where have your discernment articles gone?
My older website "Cross+Word" was for articles on the false revival, the Latter Rain, Restoration, the Word-of-Faith and other topics. That site was completed and archived in 2005 and was available for a transitional period stored under the domain name intotruth.org.
I have now restored the archived material of the Cross+Word website to its former home of banner.org.uk, and it has been completely reformatted. Therefore the duplicated articles on this current website have moved there.
At present I see no need to develop that work, nor will I go into lengthy discussions about it. "What I have written, I have written" and I stand by the facts; but my life and ministry has moved on. I now feel increasingly concerned about the signs of the Lord's return, and our need to be prepared for that event.
Why the changeover?
My time as an active researcher, speaker and writer drew slowly to a close from around 2000 and made a break in the pattern of my research so that I could, in due course, turn my mind to the coming of the Lord instead of the apostasy. (That is not to say that I have no concerns about false teaching, but rather my emphasis in that study has changed to a more devotional one.)
What is my aim?
I am attempting here to present a fairly broad and prophetic examination of coming events, believing as I do that we are staring God's judgement in the face and not recognising it. Of course this site is intended to help Christians understand more clearly the scriptures and the will of God; but also reaches out to interested men and woman who perhaps have never thought about religious topics, but who know "something is going on".
Why is the site called "birthpangs?"
This word is taken from the statement of Jesus about his return. He outlined various dramatic events that would take place such as wars, famines, earthquakes and pestilences in various places, but that "this is NOT the end". He likened the warning signs of earth's collapse as "the beginning of sorrows" - and this word "sorrows" literally means "labour pains/ birthpangs/ contractions of childbirth" that begin in a fairly small way but build to a climax.
The "contractions" that will inevitably lead to the climax -
for us, and for all the world - have already begun.
We are now in the closing years of this earth's history and awaiting a new age to come. I hope to be able to point people in the right direction as to their fate, their responsibilities and their need to forsake distractions to concentrate on getting ready for the return of God to this planet.
